Digital Dice With 7 Segment Display

A digital dice circuit can be easily realised using an astable oscillator circuit followed by a counter, display driver and a display. Here we have used a timer NE555 as an astable oscillator with a frequency of about 100 Hz. Decade counter IC CD4026 or CD4033 (which-ever available) can be used as counter-cum-display driver. When using CD4026, pin 14 (cascading output) is to be left unused (open), but in case of CD4033, pin 14 serves as lamp test pin and the same is to be grounded. Circuit diagram : Digital Dice With 7-Segment Display Circuit diagram The circuit uses only a handful of components. Its power consumption is also quite low because of use of CMOS ICs, and hence it is well suited for battery operation. In this circuit two tactile switches S1 and S2 have been pro-vided. While switch S2 is used for initial resetting of the display to ‘0,’ depression of S1 simulates throwing of the dice by a player.  When battery is connected to the circuit, the counter and display section...

How to connect LCD Display on the Arduino using only 2 pins

Generally for connecting an LCD display to an Arduino using 7 strands, it usually breaks the leg that has any projects that remain few ports to be used. But there is a way, using an IC 74LS164 (8-bit serial shift register), a resistor and a diode, but it's not just hardware, you have to use a library. This Arduino library for connection of 2-wire or 3-wire using HD44780 compatible LCD display via shiftregisters. This circuit is considered "deprecated", but it's worth testing. – Voltage On Bargraph Display

The LM3914 is a truly versatile component. Besides LEDs, only a few other components are needed to make the ‘bidirectional’ bargraph voltmeter shown here. The circuit is similar to a conventional bar display, but it offers a possibility to change the direction in which the LEDs are switched on. This may be useful, for example, when positive and negative voltages are measured. For a positive input voltage, the LEDs are switched on in the usual manner, that is, from D3 to D12, while for negative voltages, the LEDs are switched on in the opposite direction, from D12 to D3. Obviously, the negative voltage must be ‘rectified’, i.e. inverted, before the measurement. A suitable circuit for this purpose is presented in the article ‘Absolute-value meter with polarity detector’ elsewhere in this website. A set of transistor switches (MOSFETs) controls the direction in which the LEDs light. When the control voltage is high (+6V, according to the schematics, but any voltage that is at least 3V hig...

Intelligent Water Pump Controller with Water level Display

Most of the circuits for multi-level indication/control of water in tanks employ a bunch of wires running between the circuit and the overhead tank, which accounts for almost half the cost of the entire project. Here is an intelligent scanned water-level indicator-cum-pump controller circuit (Fig. 1) that utilises just four wires to the overhead tank to indicate nine different levels. The connection arrangement for the overhead tank (OHT) and the underground tank (UGT) is shown in Fig. 2. Two wires from the circuit in Fig. 1 run to the underground/ground-level tank (to output line K and return line J, respectively) to check the availability of water in the tank before operating the pump, thereby guarding the pump against the damage due to dry running. Fig. 1: Intelligent water-level indicator-cum-water pump controller The scanning section employs an NE555 timer (IC1) wired as an astable multivibrator to oscillate at around 1 kHz. The output of NE555 is connected to CLK inputs of two CD...
