12 Volt DC Fluorescent Lamp Circuit Diagram

A number of people have been unable to find the transformer needed for the Black Light project, so I looked around to see if I could find a fluorescent lamp driver that does not require any special components. I finally found one in Electronics Now. Here it is. It uses a normal 120 to 6V stepdown transformer in reverse to step 12V to about 350V to drive a lamp without the need to warm the filaments. Parts: C1 100uf 25V Electrolytic Capacitor C2,C3 0.01uf 25V Ceramic Disc Capacitor C4 0.01uf 1KV Ceramic Disc Capacitor R1 1K 1/4W Resistor R2 2.7K 1/4W Resistor Q1 IRF510 MOSFET U1 TLC555 Timer IC T1 6V 300mA Transformer LAMP 4W Fluorescent Lamp MISC Board, Wire, Heatsink For Q1 Notes: Q1 must be installed on a heat sink. A 240V to 10V transformer will work better then the one in the parts list. The problem is that they are hard to find. This circuit can give a nasty (but not too dangerous) shock. Be careful around the output leads.

H bridge Control the Direction of Rotation for DC motor Circuit Diagram

This circuit can control the direction of a DC motor., It has many applications that are necessary to operate a motor in both directions, clockwise and counter-clockwise (forward and backward). One way to accomplish this is to start the engine in a circuit arrangement of transistors called H-bridge. H bridge is an electronic circuit which enables a voltage is applied across a load in either direction. This circuit is often used in robotics and other applications to allow DC motors to become bi-directional. USB 5V to 12V DC DC Step Up Converter by LT1618

This is a 5V to 12V DC-DC step-up (boost) converter circuitry that is especially ideal for the USB powered applications. First of all a USB port has two current supply modes. Before detecting the connected device, it supplies maximum 100mA to the load. After recognizing the device, it increases the output current up to 500mA. In this circuit, controller (LT1618) also provides two input current modes. 100mA and 500mA input modes can be selected by the user. Output currents are limited due to the increased potential difference at the output. When the demand of the load increases, output voltage will start to decrease. For example, if the circuit operates in the 100 mA input mode, when the load is 35 mA, the output voltage will be kept at 12V. But if the load increases to 50 mA, output voltage will reduce to 8V to maintain the constant 100 mA input current.

DC Motor Controller Circuit with NE555

A simple DC motor controller circuit with NE555 is shown here. several DC motor speed control circuits are revealed here however this can be the first one using NE555 timer IC. additionally to controlling the motors speed its direction of rotation will be also modified using this circuit. A PWM circuit primarily based on timer NE555 is that the heart of this circuit. NE555 is wired as an astable multivibrator whose duty cycle will be adjusted by varying the POT R1. The output of IC1 is coupled to the base of transistor Q1 that drives the motor according to the PWM signal available at its base. Higher the duty cycle the typical voltage across motor will be high which ends in higher motor speed and vice versa. modification of DC motor direction is attained using the DPDT switch S1 that on application simply toggles the polarity applied to the motor.

TL594 12V DC Switch Mode Power Supply Circuit Diagram

In recent years, the use of switch mode power supply (SMPS) has become more comon as more applications demand for greater power eficiency. It makes use of semiconductor (mostly MOSFET) fast switches to switch DC input that has been rectified at high frequency. The advantages of high frequency switching are that it reduces the size of inductor, capacitors & transformer used. Other advantages of switching power supply over linear power supply are : 1) High Efficiency (up to 90% and above for nice design). 2) Output can be higher than input. 3) Able to operate over a variety of input power supply. 4) Able to have over output. The setback of using SMPS compared to linear power supply is that it generates electrical noise which contributes to electromagnetic compatibility design issues & more part count. Buck Converter SMPS The SMPS circuit below from Power Integration makes use of LNK304 as its high frequency switch. Take note that this circuit is non isolated type which means tha...

555 DC DC Converter

It is all too often necessary to augment the power supply of an existing electronic circuit because exactly the voltage that you need is missing. The circuit presented here may provide a solution in a number of cases, since it can be used to convert a single-ended supply voltage into a balanced set of supply voltages. That’s not so remarkable by itself, but the special feature of this circuit is that this is accomplished without using difficult to obtain, exotic ICs. All of the components used in the circuit are ones that every electronics hobbyist is likely to have in a drawer somewhere. The heart of the circuit is formed by an ‘old reliable’ 555 timer, which is wired here as a free-running oscillator with a frequency of approximately 160 kHz. The oscillator is followed by two voltage-doubling rectifiers, consisting of C1, D1, D2, C3 and C7, D3, D4, C5. They are followed in turn by two voltage regulators to stabilise the positive and negative voltages generated in this manner. The dut...

Simple DC Motor PWM Speed Control

Description The 555 is ubiquitous and can be used as simple PWM speed control Circuit Diagram Circuit Explaination:   The 555 Ic is wired as an astable and the frequency is constant and independent of the duty cycle, as the total resistance (R charge + R discharge, notice the diode) is constant and equal to 22Kohm (givin a frequency of about 1Khz, notice the hum). When the potentiomenter is all down, the Rcharge resistance is 21,0 Kohm (the diode prevents the capacitor to charge through the second potentiometer section and the other 1,0 Kohm resistor) , and Rdischarge is 1 Kohm, giving a 95% on duty cycle and a 1Khz frequency. When the potentiomenter is at 50% , the Rcharge resistance is 11,0 Kohm (the diode prevents the ...

How to build 1 5V to 5V 12V DC DC Converter with LT1073

Small 1.5V to 5V or 12V DC/DC converter with LT1073 chip. The IC is available in three different versions, depending on output voltage. Two with fixed output voltage of 5V and 12V, and the most interesting that can be adjusted. If you do not have a meter inductance, the inductive part of the drive is a bit more complicated to make, but we shall see some possible solutions. Capacitor also recommended by the manufacturer for the circuit is a bit hard to get, I have used a tantalum recovered from another power source, and the ripple voltage at the output is quite low. Last but not least, say that the diode has to be a fast, not wo...

DC DC HV Boost Converter

A boost converter works in two stages, ON and OFF. In the ON stage the Semi-conductive Switch is conducting and current builds up in the inductor producing an electromagnetic field, this field stores energy. In the OFF stage the Semi-conductive Switch does not conduct and the electromagnetic field collapses. When the field collapses the energy stored in it can not escape through the Semi-conductive Switch so it goes through the diode and into the load/Capacitor at a much higher voltage. This happens several thousand times a second via the pulses from the NE555 Timer Chip and the result is being able to charge a high voltage capacitor from a low voltage source. Below is some aid for those of you who do not know electronics well. [ ]
